Incandescent energy saving lamps

Incandescent energy saving lamps

It's time to talk about the biggest disadvantages of energy-saving light bulbs. Unfortunately, there were slightly more than the advantages, which I think in the main degree, resulting in a faster and faster departure from this type of light sources. The biggest of the disadvantages can be low light quality, which was much worse than the sunlight itself (low level of CRI). Another of them, which was extremely important for our health, was the inclusion of small amounts of toxic substances. Energy-saving light bulbs contained, among others, mercury, so that we could not throw them into the ordinary basket, and each of them should be recycled.

As we already know, energy-saving bulbs acted as a glow discharge that they needed to take off. It was then that they took the most energy, often much higher than with traditional incandescent bulbs. They could also cause a reduction in the quality of electricity in the network, causing its deformation. The quality of an energy-saving light bulb largely depended on the ambient temperature or the degree of its consumption. After a long time of illumination, we could see that the light emitted by it is definitely of lower quality.
An energy-saving bulb by the starter system could not be in most cases of control. So we could not freely darken it or change the colors of its lighting. It was a huge drawback for customers who wanted energy-efficient lighting that they could intelligently control.

Bulb energy-saving advantages

An energy-saving bulb and its power consumption, which is several times lower than in the case of traditional light sources, is the biggest advantage of compact fluorescent lamps. It was thanks to the lower energy consumption that we could quickly reduce the energy bills, exchanging only a few light bulbs in our home. I am writing here, of course, about the case when energy-saving bulbs will work for a long time, and will not be switched on and off at any time. Then also these types of bulbs achieve much longer durability than ordinary incandescent bulbs. An energy-saving bulb through its starter system has less dependence on the set-up voltage. We do not experience the dimming effect on them when the voltage of electricity decreases slightly below the accepted standard. Another huge advantage of energy-saving light bulbs is the possibility of emitting light in a different color than that used in a standard bulb (2500K). An energy-saving bulb can emit 4000K or 6500K cold light.

LED bulbs vs energy-saving

The LED bulb, and energy-saving and its comparison currently somewhat misses the goal. LED bulbs-they have definitely defeated their biggest competitors, above all accessibility, more and more attractive price and longer life and durability. LED bulbs are also much safer for us and the environment, because they do not contain harmful mercury, or do not produce harmful UV radiation. Products made in LED technology also emit a much more pleasant to the eye light, whose color rendering level is at least CRI> 80Ra. When choosing LED bulbs for home or office, we also do not have to decide on the most ordinary ones, which will only emit light in one color. LED bulbs can be part of intelligent lighting and together with LED strips or external lighting, create modern systems controlled by remote control, phone or tablet.
